Tips On Using A Self Tan Product In The Course Of Pregnancy

By Haywood Hunter

From research that has been carried out over many years, it has been discovered that UV rays of the sun are harmful. This is why many people try to avoid the sun, and rather use a self tan product. These products come in many varieties, such as sprays or creams, and react with the skin's surface to produce a browner coloring. A person may use a self tan product to avoid damaging their skin from the natural suntan process.

Ladies, but especially pregnant ladies, have a desire to look attractive. Dermatologists have agreed that a self tan product is alright to use during pregnancy, but caution is still advised. In general, the lotions and sprays are just a skin dye that do not actually enter the bloodstream of the person.

Pregnant ladies might also consider using sunbeds rather than a self tan product, just like many other people do nowadays. Sunbeds create a similar effect to the sun, also making use of UV rays, and therefore could damage the skin just like the sun. This is especially the case if they are used for lengthy periods of time.

It is still not evident that they are harmful to the fetus, but they can harm the direct user. You must self tan product, because tanning booth, if used frequently can lead to complications which may spread to the placenta. This can be dangerous for both parties.

The intense heat of a sunbed is something else to consider. A fetus, in its very early stage of development, should not be exposed to extreme temperatures. It may also be uncomfortable for her to lie on her back for a long time, and this position is not very good for the baby either, as it reduces the flow of blood to the fetus. For this reason, it is better to consider a self tan product.

A self tan product in the form of sprays or creams does not permeate the skin and reach the bloodstream of a person. It is therefore quite safe to use when pregnant. Keep in mind that the products do not act as a protection against the sun's UV rays, so if you are going out in the sun, be sure to apply a good sunscreen. Sunscreen will not take away your tanned look, and will not react negatively to the lotion.

With all this said, however, the self tan product does contain the substance referred to as DHA, or dihydroxyacetone. Chemicals such as these are better to avoid altogether when in the first trimester of pregnancy. This is the ingredient that causes the skin to change color.

The main ingredient just mentioned also has a rather unpleasant smell, which a pregnant lady, considering her heightened senses, could find overbearing. If you are pregnant, test the self tan product on a small section of your body first, just to make sure your skin does not react to its ingredients. A self tan product can be used during pregnancy, but caution is still advised.
