Cleaning Up After The Holildays

By Rey Vetangelo

If you are a person who suffers from chronic snoring, you are not alone. Nearly 50% of all adults struggle with snoring problems most of the time.

Snoring can create many problems in your life. In general, people snore because they're suffering from some kind of sleep apnea.

Firstly, you need to get back to brushing your teeth. Brush once in the morning and once at night. Make your brushing sessions last about a minute or two. Be sure to be gentle, but thorough. Reach back into the back of your mouth to get behind the molars. Picture the layout of your teeth in your mind and mentally map out your pattern. Once you've thoroughly cleaned all of your pearly whites, you can be done. A new idea to try is brushing your teeth without toothpaste at first.

They visit for toothaches. Those toothaches come from not taking care of their teeth. These toothaches lead to painful procedures. These procedures could be avoided if they came in for a cleaning regularly. Since they don't come in regularly, they have to keep coming back for tooth aches. It's a vicious cycle.

Help them out a bit by removing whatever you can with the bristles. Second, you will need to get back into the habit of flossing your teeth. You should be flossing every night before bed. Be sure to floss between each tooth and do your best to get out all the white plaque.

You could invest in a body pillow that will support your whole body, and prop it up against your back while you sleep. This will help you avoid sleeping on your back. People have even tried taping tennis balls to their back in order to make sure they don't sleep on their back. This action may be a little drastic, but if it works for some people, then that's great.

Something else that health professionals have recommended for chronic snorers is to lose weight. This can be especially helpful if you didn't snore, you gained weight, and then you started to snore. Having extra weight around your neck serves to collapse the diameter of your throat, which can contribute to snoring during sleep. Losing weight does not help all people who struggle with snoring, but sometimes it does.

Another thing you can do to try to snore less is to practice good sleep hygiene. This means getting the right amount of sleep for your age, lifestyle, and workload. It can sometimes be difficult to figure out what the magic number of hours of sleep is that you need; the only way to find this information out is to experiment and see what works for you.
