Probiotics

The idea of taking in live bacteria is a concept new to most people, but what most people don't know is that this concept is already practiced by many people. This is known as probiotics. Probiotics are actually good bacteria that helps improve a person's health. Naturally, a person's body is a home for different kinds of bacterial that is actively participating in defending and protecting the body's immune system and as well as helping the digestive system functional and healthy.

Presence of good bacteria in the body should be in a state of well-balance to ensure proper function and health. A person may get sick or acquire diseases such as cough, colds and stomachache once that balance is disturbed.

It is important to know though that despite the fact that probiotics live in our body, they are not part of our body rather they are only helping our body achieve a state of balance to ensure and avoid diseases. It is important for our body to have sufficient amount of probiotics to help diminish and avoid space for pathogens to cling to, live and grow.

Probiotics are usually taken in as food and food supplements. But a lot of people are not aware what the best time to take probiotics. Here are some tips on when to take probiotics:

-If you notice that there are signs that you will be sick, it is time to take a probiotics supplement that will help replenish the decreased number of probiotics in the body. Typically, the body has sufficient supply of probiotics living in the body which helps in defending the immune system against viruses that brings diseases. Once the immune system is weakened and the amount of probiotics is decreased that is the time that the body will acquire diseases thus it is necessary to replace the lost probiotics in the body to reacquire the state of balance it needs.

-After taking a round of antibiotic medicines, it is recommended to take probiotics supplements since antibiotics does not only attack bad bacteria and viruses but as well as good bacteria or probiotics. Thus it is important to take probiotics supplements during this time to help replace the number of probiotics killed by the antibiotics and achieve the state of balance needed by the body.

Another good thing to know about probiotics is that, a person can take in as much as he wants without getting overdosed. The body will just eliminate those that it does need. When taking in probiotic supplement, it is important to know that these bacteria are easily affected and destroyed and are delicate when it comes to digestion. Thus taking the probiotic supplement some time before or after meals is highly recommended and taking them right after having a meal is not advised. . Usually you can take these probiotic supplements 15 minutes before having a meal or 30-45 minutes after your meal to make sure that they reach the intestines where they usually do their work. Two of the mostly used and taken probiotics is the Lactobacilli and the Bifidobacteria.

Not only does probiotics helps in defending the immune system and the body against infection, it also helps to prevent having cough, colds and stomach pains.
