The Ice Cream Diet

By Bob Steele

The reaction many people have about the Ice Cream Diet is typical, and they tend to look at it and wonder if it's for real. The point is there appears to be some kind of hype or contradiction involved with a diet that seems to place importance on eating ice cream. The Ice Cream Diet maintains that you must eat ice cream every day while you're on the diet plan. In this article, we're presenting our findings based on a review of the Ice Cream Diet.

First, we have to give credit because the Ice Cream Diet actually tells you that you need to eat good quality fruits, vegetables, and get proper fiber. What's surprising, even though it has that name, is you will be directed to consume good quality foods that are low in calories. Included are recommendations for the foods to eat, and they even go so far as to suggest what you can eat when you're at a restaurant. It's interesting that some are surprised, and maybe dismayed, that the 'safe' limits for ice cream consumption are on the sparse side, and why is that not surprising? The thing about ice cream is to be able to have a daily treat, or a reward, as you progress with the diet. The end result is your ability to experience weight loss while being able to enjoy some good stuff each day.

Another side benefit of the Ice Cream Diet is that you'll be getting more calcium which is important for everyone, of course, but moreso for women. Some research has shown that adequate levels of calcium are important for losing weight.

People can work against their own efforts simply by consuming too few calories plus eliminating dairy products. Additionally, the Ice Cream Diet book discusses why you really want to get your calcium from eating good foods rather than becoming dependent on supplements. The Ice Cream Diet gives you a way to lose weight while consuming enough calcium every day.

While the Ice Cream Diet gives you a diet plan that can help you to lose weight, the fact is that the ice cream part is not really necessary and can be considered more of a gimmick than anything else. You'll also find that even the daily caloric maximums are not unusual and for men they're under 2000 calories each day, and for women they're no more than 1500 calories each day. Then you will combine that with exercise on a regular basis. So the amount of ice cream you eat needs to fit, somewhere. It's interesting because you can really eat a little bit of something "bad" for you every day, just as long as you follow the plan - and you'll still lose weight. So, while the Ice Cream Diet can be effective, the name of it is mainly a marketing ploy.

The approach with the Ice Cream Diet is well-grounded in behavioral science, and it really is effective depending on the person. You can experience weight loss and success only by following the eating recommendations, plus exercise - plus only eating a little bit of ice cream every day. You can lose weight, no doubt, with the Ice Cream Diet if you're able to follow those three points.
